The domain is
located in the central suburb of Grafton, located in Auckland on
the North Island. Grafton was named for the Duke of Grafton who
was a patron of William Hobson, the first Governor of New
Zealand. The Auckland Domain is the oldest park of Auckland and
also one of the largest parks of the city. On this picture you
may see one of the main attractions of the Auckland Domain, the
Auckland War Memorial, created by the architects Aimer, Gierson
and Draffin. In the 1840s the land was decided to be a public
reserve. In the 1860s it was developed in the Auckland Botanical
Gardens. The Auckland Domain is very famous in Auckland and must
make part of your visits during your stay in this beautiful
city. |
