The University
of Auckland was established in 1883, it is the largest
university of research of New Zealand. The Maori call it Te
Whare Wananga o Tamaki Makaurau. The University has over six
campuses, over eight faculties and has over thirty nine thousand
students. The University of Auckland offers a large variety of
programs as Science, Art, Music, Business, Architecture,
Nursing, Engineering, Food and Wine Science, Law, Information
Management, Medicine, Property, Creative and Performing Arts,
Theology, Teacher Training and Special Education. The city
campus has an area of around one hundred and sixty thousand
square meters. In 1991 the Tamaki campus was built in the suburb
of Glenn Innes, it has an area of around three hundred and
twenty thousand square meters. Glenn Innes is located a few
kilometers away from the city centre and it is near the Tamaki
River. In 2001 the North Shore campus was built in Takapuna, the
campus offers an Information Management degree and a Bachelor of
Business. |
