The Parakaunui Falls is in The Catlins, New Zealand; the waterfall is on the Parakaunui River. The river flows in the Pacific Ocean. The waterfall can be reached by a short bush walk from the main Owaka-Invercargill road; it is around seventeen km southwest of Owaka. As you can observe on the picture the Parakaunui Falls is a beautiful place. When you arrive to destination you will have the feeling just to sit on a rock, watch and to listen the water flow and relax. And why not have a little picnic before continuing to visit this beautiful place. Catlins is a place in New Zealand like no other, it is unique with its scenic coastal landscape. Catlins is just beautiful, a lot of lakes, waterfalls as the one you see on the picture. The highest mount in Catlins is Mount Pye at seven hundred twenty meters.
