The Coromandel
Peninsula is on the North Island of New Zealand. This is an area
where a lot of people like to go to take some fresh air and
relax. There is a part of Coromandel Penisula that is rugged,
forested and hilly, great to relax with friends and family. By
clear weather the peninsula is easily visible from Auckland, the
largest city of New Zealand. The area is mostly covered of a
subtropical rainforest and is quite hilly which attract a large
number of ecotourists. The peninsula has only five towns that
have a population of over one thousand; they are Thames,
Whangamata, Tairu, Coromandel and Whitianga. Most of the New
Zealanders, mostly those living in Auckland like to go to the
peninsula to relax, some of them have holiday houses in this
area. During the holiday period Coromandel Peninsula is a quite
busy area with tourists visiting and New Zealanders coming to
relax with their friends and family. For those who live in this
area, it is a completely different life from the big cities.
They usually have a more tradition life. When you visit this
place you will discover that the residents are quite different
from those living in big cities. In the past this area was known
for gold mining and kauri industries, it was also the main
source of living at this time. Nowadays the region lives from
tourism and agriculture. |
