The Lake
Wakatipu is located in the region of Otago on the South Island
of New Zealand. It is considered in the South Island as the
longest lake and as the third largest in New Zealand with a
length of eighty kilometres and is two hundred and ninety one
kilometre square. It is around one thousand feet above sea level
and has a depth of over one thousand two hundred feet. Bordered
with a scenic view of mountains with the highest one known as
Mount Earnslaw, the lake is pleasant place to relax and spend an
unforgettable day. The lake has the form of a reversed “N”. The
Kawarau River flows out from the Lake of Wakatipu near
Queenstown. There mainly two rivers that enter the lake at its
head are the Rees and Dart. The lake is quite popular, there are
a large number of activities organised on the lake as cruise or
a visits in the Bobs caves. The Lake Wakatipu makes part of
numerous legends of the Maoris. It is said that the name
Wakatipu comes from “Wakatipuwaimaori” which till now the
