This picture
shows you a magnificent sunset on Mt Taranaki. The mount is also
known as Mount Egmont. The mount is a dormant volcano. Captain
James Cook gave it the name of mount egmont after John Perceval
second Earl of Egmont. He also promoted the first voyage of
James Cook. The Mount Taranaki is surrounded of a National Park
known as the Egmont National Park; it is also the second
national park of New Zealand. The mount is located in the region
of Taraki which is a beautiful region to spend a nice holiday.
In 1755 there was an ash eruption from the mount which was one
of the most recent volcanic activities. The movie of The Last
Samurai with Tom cruise used the Mount Taranaki as backdrop as
it has a resemblance to the Mount Fuji. |
